Course Description
The Fundamentals of DevSecOps and SRE for Software Engineers course is a foundation-level training program designed to help software engineers understand how modern software systems are built, delivered, secured, managed, and operated in today’s fast-moving digital environment.
This course provides a clear introduction to DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Platform Engineering, and Value Stream Management (VSM). Participants will learn how these practices work together to improve software delivery, system reliability, security, governance, and overall engineering performance.
The course explains key DevOps and SRE frameworks such as the Three Ways of DevOps, CALMS, the Nine Pillars of DevOps, and the Nine Pillars of SRE. Learners will also explore important engineering concepts such as pipelines, toolchains, infrastructure as code, automation, orchestration, observability, AIOps, and AI-driven insights.
A strong focus is placed on treating continuous reliability, security, and governance as part of the software development process, not as separate tasks handled after development is complete. This helps learners understand how high-performing engineering teams design systems that are reliable, secure, scalable, and easier to manage.
The course also introduces the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in DevOps and SRE, including practical use cases, benefits, limitations, ethical concerns, and the importance of trust and responsibility when using AI-enabled systems.
Participants will learn how organizations approach DevOps and SRE transformation through structured methods such as the Seven Step Transformation Process. The course also covers common pitfalls, anti-patterns, team structures, dashboards, performance measurement, and real-world examples of both successful and failed transformations.
By the end of this course, learners will have a strong foundation in modern DevOps and SRE practices. They will understand the technical, cultural, and organizational factors needed to support reliable software delivery and high-performing engineering teams.
